College Bio

Physical tight end joined the Chiefs as the club’s second of three third-round selections (76th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft … Regarded by many as the most dominant blocking tight end in the draft … Athletic performer is a fluid runner for a man his size, causing potential matchup problems for linebackers in coverage … Possesses the strength and tenacity to control the point of attack in the running game … Owns powerful legs and is often difficult for one tackler to bring him down … Is expected to battle for a backup tight end spot behind nine-time Pro Bowl TE Tony Gonzalez … Should benefit from working under the tutelage of tight ends coach Jon Embree … Played in 38 games (seven starts) at Tennessee, catching 21 passes for 341 yards (16.2 avg.) with one touchdown … Also had one special teams tackle … Was a three-time Academic All-Southeastern Conference selection.
